Why use PDFHaul to remove
empty pages?
Catches near-blank pages too
The detection algorithm catches pages that look blank but contain faint scan artifacts, watermarks, or near-invisible noise that makes them technically non-empty.
Preview before removing
Every flagged page is shown to you before deletion. You stay in control. Uncheck anything you want to keep and confirm the rest.
Adjustable sensitivity
Choose how aggressively to detect empty pages. Remove only fully blank pages, or include pages with only headers, footers, and page numbers.
Files deleted in 2 hours
Your documents are automatically purged from our servers within 2 hours. Not stored, not analysed, not sold.
Who needs to remove
empty PDF pages?
Blank pages creep into PDFs from scanners, template documents, and automatically generated reports.
01
Scanned document clean-up
Every blank sheet of paper fed through a scanner produces a blank page in the PDF. Multi-page scans from automatic document feeders routinely produce blank page separators. Remove them all in one step.
02
PDFs merged from multiple sources
When you merge several PDFs together, blank pages from one document end up as unwanted gaps in the middle of the combined file. Strip them out after merging to get a clean result.
03
Template-based documents
Forms, contracts, and report templates often include placeholder pages for sections that were left unused. Remove the blank placeholder pages before sharing the final document with a client or counterparty.
04
Printed-to-PDF documents
Documents printed to PDF from applications like Word or Excel sometimes produce a final blank page due to a trailing paragraph or page break. Strip it before sending.
How empty page detection works
Empty page detection analyses each page in the PDF and removes those that contain no meaningful content. A page is considered empty if it has no text, no images, and no visible vector content: a completely blank page, or a page with only invisible formatting artefacts.
Pages with headers or footers only (page numbers, document titles, or other template elements printed in the margins) are retained. Because they contain text objects, they pass the emptiness check. A page with only a printed page number in the footer counts as a non-empty page. If you need to remove those pages too, do it manually using the split or reorder tools to reconstruct the document without them.
Empty pages in PDFs arise most commonly from: printing to PDF from a word processor where section breaks force a new page, scanning documents where a blank reverse side is captured, or combining PDFs where one source document had trailing blank pages.
