How Excel to PDF conversion works

Excel to PDF conversion renders each sheet as a fixed-layout page. The output preserves the visual appearance of the spreadsheet, including cell values, formatting, borders, and colours, as a non-editable document.

Print area settings in the Excel file affect conversion output. If a print area is defined in the spreadsheet, only that area is included in the PDF. If no print area is set, the conversion includes all cells with content on each sheet. Sheets with large amounts of data across many columns may render across multiple pages depending on the column width and page size settings embedded in the workbook.
