Free PDF Duplicate Test File
Most duplicate detection tools ask you to trust that they work. This one you can check yourself.
We built a small test PDF with a known, documented set of duplicate pages. Download it, run it through PDFHaul (or any other tool), and compare the result against the answer key below. No signup, no catch.
Download test PDFWhat's in the test file
The file is 10 pages long and contains 3 duplicate pairs, mixed in with unique content so the test isn't trivial:
Page 4 is an exact duplicate of Page 1. Same rendered content, same layout.
Page 7 is an exact duplicate of Page 2.
Page 9 is an exact duplicate of Page 3.
Pages 5, 6, 8, and 10 are unique and should not be flagged. A couple of them are deliberately similar in layout to the duplicated pages, but not identical in content, since that's the case most tools get wrong.
How to use it
Download the file, then run it through whatever duplicate detection tool you want to test.
If you're testing PDFHaul specifically: upload the file to the Remove Duplicates tool, review the flagged pages before removing anything, and compare what it finds against the answer key below. You'll see exactly which pages are proposed for removal before you confirm.
Answer key
Duplicates: Page 4 = Page 1, Page 7 = Page 2, Page 9 = Page 3.
Should not be flagged: Pages 5, 6, 8, 10.
Correct result: 3 duplicates found, 7 pages remaining after removal.
If a tool finds more or fewer than 3, or flags any of the unique pages, that's worth knowing before you rely on it for a real document.
Why we built this
Duplicate detection is easy to claim and hard to verify from the outside. We wrote up exactly how PDFHaul's detection works, including where it draws the line between an exact duplicate and a page that just looks similar. This test file is the practical companion to that: a way to check the claim instead of taking it on faith.
